Great Starter Wheel

After seeing electric unicycles online and without having a chance to ride before you buy, I gave Tom a call and settled on this unit for my first wheel. My plan was to use it for a short ~3 km one way commute to work and bike rides with kids. I can ride a pedal-it-yourself unicycle (not particularly well), and found this very easy to learn. While I like the wheel I found the value limitations of this wheel very quickly. It's probably my need for speed, power, etc. that has me already wondering what my next wheel will be Current contenders are Gotway MSX or KS-18XL.

When initialising the wheel the unit you have to connect the app to unlock it, but thankfully don't have to do that every time. After getting it unlocked, I was confident enough to commute with it after about 15 minutes of practice. A couple of hours riding time later I could turn fairly tight circles but still have some practice needed to get the pendulum/backwards motion down.

Another thing I noticed is that while the 14" wheel is nimble, it is also a little unnerving dealing with imperfections in pavement, soft curbs, etc. I think a larger diameter wheel would probably be better for general commuting and
trails, but haven't had a chance to ride anything else yet to say for sure.

Pros:
Low cost
Easy to learn
Lightweight
Nimble

Cons:
20 km/h feels slow to me
Low power, slows down significantly when climbing (I am about 90 kg)

All in all, I'm happy with the purchase and the value for money. I'd personally recommend spending a little more for more capability, but the KS-14M may be just fine for your needs. I'm very happy with the service from VANEUC as well and highly recommend them. Now just to save up for and decide what will be my next bigger faster wheel...

Get hooked on EUCs with this

I bought this 2 weeks ago with no prior experience riding an EUC. I just rode it 2 miles on city streets and am hooked for life. I'm 57 and fairly athletic but never really did learn how to roller blade or skate board so my quick success tells you everything you need to know.
The machine is uncomplicated to operate and not very heavy: I'm totally pleased with it.
